Listening this morning to some old Hank Williams "alter-ego" - Luke the Drifter made me think: Hank Williams was known to be a heavy drinker, user of pain-killing drugs for his spinal disease, and I know he was deeply depressed throughout most of his adult life for many reasons including his loss of the love of his life - "Miss Audrey". He didn't show a lot of religious bent, but with "Luke The Drifter", he seem to me to find a peace in his life that wasn't present in many of his other songs. Anyone have thoughts? I think this one really shows his vulnerability:
